Arizona Wildcats Claim Victory Over Alabama
The Arizona Wildcats faced off against Alabama with a shaky start, but managed to pull off a win, 87-74, in the Jerry Colangelo Hall of Fame Series at the Footprint Center. Despite conceding a 9-0 lead to Alabama at the beginning, committing 20 fouls, and delivering only 12 assists, the Wildcats pulled together to secure a victory.
The game was tied 54-54 midway through the second half and the two teams continuously beat each other defensively. The home crowd didn’t leave until 20 minutes before midnight, showing their dedication to the team.
Arizona’s performance took a turn for the better after wing Pelle Larsson made a crucial play by diving into the game and leading the Wildcats to a 10-0 run. Larsson’s aggressive performance extended beyond that play, and he managed to contribute 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists for Arizona. Center Oumar Ballo also impressed with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Alabama’s inefficiency was evident in their inability to capitalize on their shots and maintain control of the ball, reflected in their overall 33.8% shooting percentage. They also had more turnovers and fewer rebounds than Arizona, ultimately causing them to fall behind in the game.
Despite the Wildcats’ low 44.8% shooting in the second half and a lack of assists, they managed to climb ahead by scoring points off turnovers and through their strong defensive performance. The Wildcats outrebounded Alabama 48-38 and secured the win through determination and teamwork.
The win sets the stage for the Wildcats’ next matchup against 14th-ranked Florida Atlantic on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. They will be eager to continue their winning momentum and build on their strong performance against Alabama.
