It’s that time of year again, the end of the 2023 early signing period. As prospects race to get their paperwork in before Friday’s deadline, attention is already turning to the Class of 2025. With the recruiting cycle never truly stopping, coaches will soon be back on the road for evaluations and in-person conversations as the contact period opens up on Jan. 12. Here’s a look at what the next group of top recruits is shaping up to be.

More than 20 percent of the top 100 prospects in the Class of 2025 have already committed, showing just how fast recruiting moves in college football today. Alabama and Georgia have emerged as the early leaders, with a significant number of top commitments. Notre Dame also has a strong showing with 11 commitments, including seven from four-star prospects. Georgia, in particular, has been successful in its home state, with six of its seven commits hailing from Georgia.

The top prospect in the Class of 2025 is five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who plans to make his commitment on Jan. 6. LSU seems to be the favorite to land Underwood, who has received multiple crystal ball predictions to the school. Notre Dame-bound quarterback CJ Carr also had to deal with Underwood in this year’s Michigan high school playoffs.

Another school to watch is SMU, which has seen a boost in recruiting efforts with its move to the ACC. The program has secured commitments from four blue-chip players for the Class of 2025, with the average player rating for the five commits standing at an impressive 89.98.

Texas is also making waves, with a tighter connection to the Peach State and the SEC as it looks to secure talent for the upcoming seasons. Auburn is another team to keep an eye on, with a strong 2024 class and a promising start to its 2025 recruiting efforts. Head coach Hugh Freeze has already secured seven commitments, including five blue-chippers, suggesting that the Tigers could be on the rise in the next few seasons.
